UFC 108: Rashad Evans vs. Thiago Silva

UFC 108: Evans vs. Silva is an upcoming mixed martial arts event to be held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) on January 2, 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

The winner of a bout between Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira and Cain Velasquez was to be guaranteed a title shot for the UFC Heavyweight Championship against the eventual winner of Lesnar vs. Carwin. The planned bout was later scrapped when Nogueira was forced to pull out of the fight due to a severe case of staph infection. A possible Velasquez vs. Carwin match for an interim belt has been ruled out as a new main event due to Carwin undergoing knee surgery, although the fight may take place at a later date. The Nogueria/Velasquez bout is scheduled for February 21, 2010 at UFC 110

Gabriel Gonzaga was forced to pull out of his bout with Junior dos Santos on November 25, due to illness. Gonzaga was replaced by Gilbert Yvel

Paul Daley was scheduled to face Carlos Condit but on December 9, it was announced that Condit had pulled out due to injury. Condit was replaced by Dustin Hazelett.

Anyway, let's all watch UFC 108 Live Stream later tonight, because all of the fight cards are great!

Octopus snatches coconut and runs

Here's a funny news about an Octopus who snatched a coconut and runs. An octopus and its coconut-carrying antics have surprised scientists.

Underwater footage reveals that the creatures scoop up halved coconut shells before scampering away with them so they can later use them as shelters.

One of the researchers, Dr Julian Finn from Australia's Museum Victoria, told BBC News: "I almost drowned laughing when I saw this the first time."

Writing in the journal Current Biology, the team says it is the first example of tool use in octopuses.

Rwanda jails journalist Valerie Bemeriki for genocide

Rwanda jails journalist Valerie Bemeriki for genocide. The journalist who encouraged Hutus to slaughter Tutsis during the 1994 genocide has been jailed for life.

In one broadcast attributed to her she told her listeners: "Do not kill those cockroaches with a bullet - cut them to pieces with a machete."

She was one of the most prominent voices of Radio Mille Collines - a station which became notorious for its encouragement of the slaughter.

During her trial Valerie Bemeriki admitted to inciting violence.

The station was launched in 1993, backed by relatives of Hutu President Juvenal Habyarimana - whose death in a plane crash helped to trigger the genocide.

Two senior executives of Radio Milles Collines have previously been sentenced to long jail terms by the UN's Rwanda tribunal, based in Arusha, Tanzania.

About 800,000 ethnic Tutsis and moderate Hutus were slaughtered in 100 days in Rwanda.

Clinton urge Iran to free US hikers

She was speaking after Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said the three would stand trial, although he did not specify on which charges.

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has called on Tehran to free three US citizens who crossed into Iran while hiking in Iraq.

Iranian officials have also previously alleged the trio were spying.

Mrs Clinton said that any charges would be unfounded.

Shane Bauer, Sarah Shourd and Josh Fattal were detained in July and have been accused of illegal entry.

"We consider this a totally unfounded charge. There is no basis for it... They were out hiking and unfortunately, apparently, allegedly walked across an unmarked boundary."

Their families say they strayed across the border accidentally.

Mrs Clinton said: "We appeal to the Iranian leadership to release these three young people and free them as soon as possible.
